Are you friendly and enthusiastic and confident with surgeries, out of hours and obsterical work and fancy a new challenge? Our Client is looking to recruit an experienced farm Veterinary Surgeon, to join their team of six 100% farm vets. They won the small practice SPVS and RCVS Mind Matters Veterinary Wellbeing Award and are committed to enhancing the wellbeing of their colleagues - they promote flexibility, support, mentoring and teamwork.
The work is varied - you could see everything from commercial dairy, beef, sheep, pigs, poultry and camelids, to smaller-scale, hobby farming, multi-species open farms and pet farm animals. They do their own TB testing, product and animal export work, and where possible, are supportive of further education eg certificates.
They do routine fertility work, health planning and plenty of individual animal work, with a high surgical caseload. If you are interested in teaching and veterinary education, they also take on farm rotation students from the University of Surrey.
Most of the year is on a 1:5 rota but they do double-up on weekends from January through May to cater for a busy calving and lambing season. A weekend on call entitles you to a day in lieu, and second on call a half day.
