Due to expansion this Northampton based practice are currently looking for both experienced RVNs and 2nd year SVNs to join their Award-winning RCVS accredited hospital practice.
If you came to join the practice you would be working with an amazing team providing gold standard 24 hour care for day and hospitalised patients with a variety of needs from post-op monitoring to intensive care cases; this really is your chance to be a part of an incredible team. They believe in allowing all nurses to do every aspect of a nurse’s role including monitoring anaesthetics, running the busy kennels and running nurse clinics. They really do believe that a happy team is a motivated and dedicated one, so they schedule the rota accordingly.
This award-winning practice! Rated “Outstanding” in all six areas by RCVS for their Practice Standards Awards. They are very proud to have won SPVS Well-being Medium Practice of the Year 2019, and think that they can offer a great work/life balance to all colleagues.
Being an 11 vet, 24 hour hospital practice the caseload is high and variable. Commonly performed surgeries are TPLO, fracture repairs, TECABO, perineal urethrostomies, BOAS, skin flaps, caesareans, and similar interesting cases to get involved in.
They are located just an hour from London and Birmingham and Milton Keynes is 30 minutes away by car.
Their nurses are responsible for assisting the vets with the day and in-patient care (something they take very seriously), taking & running diagnostic samples, placing IV Catheters, preparing patients for theatre for surgery, monitoring anaesthesia, calculating and administering patient medication, x-raying patients, running the occasional nurse clinic and assisting in delivering amazing client care. The caseload is extremely varied- you could be placing a feeding tube one minute and scrubbed into a fracture repair the next.
As a 24 hour hospital they not only provide out of hours care for their own patients, but they also cover 11 other practices in the area so their days can be busy but extremely varied and rewarding. They also work closely with the RSPCA and other local charities. They have built exceptionally strong and trusted relationships with their clients and they are looking for an RVN who enjoys this side of the role just as much as the clinical responsibilities.
The rota will include weekends and out of hours cover which gives you great exposure to emergencies and other interesting case.
